Saani Kaayidham movie review: A strong visual of madness and bloodbath that sends a shiver down the spine.
Plot Synopsis
The film revolves around "Ponni" and "Sangaiyyah" who leaves a trail of mayhem for the vengeance which destroyed their dear lives.
1) Storytelling
The film starts as a simple family drama but ends with built-up violence that narrates the whole plot with a steady madness of vengeance. It delivers an outlook on the life of the character and what prompts her to take the road of ultimate justice where emotions are driven by rage and destruction. The film stands true to its core but lacks in delivering an emotional understanding of how Ponni as a character valued her husband and daughter, which leads to such a burst of anger and hatred after the incident that devours her family.
2) Direction
The direction of the film is precise, chilling, haunting, and dominating that lets you feel sympathetic towards the character when she drowns herself in the hole of hatred and vengeance. The film talks about a vast number of topics subject to the classification of female degradation and caste, with very minute to subtle details in classifying the character. The film defines vengeance where every inflicting action needs to be responded to in the same manner which ultimately brings mayhem upon both the doers.
3) Background Music
The whole music department has done amazing work that highlights the character's highs and lows in a very polished manner. A simple breeze to an intense chaotic sound, extract in delivering the much-needed chills which promise a complete audience interaction with the characters. A film that classifies madness, trauma, and bloodbath needs to deliver the right sound quality to create a space of what the whole plot was supposed to be meant where this film has delivered the absolute justice.
4) Performance
One of the very few Indian films where women are given such strong character roles with a promising caliber to showcase the art is mesmerizing to watch on a big screen. The film holds two main lead characters, Keerthy Suresh and Selvaraghavan who gave their utmost performance followed by many other actors who were enacted in the film. The film is something you should give a watch if you can handle the violence and just appreciate the artwork while considering to not being influenced by the content in any manner.
