Kuruthi movie review: A home invasion leading to disturbing catastrophic events.
The film "Kuruthi" which can be translated as 'The Holy Slaughter' directed by "Manu Warrier" brilliantly portrays a mind-blowing thriller experience for the audience where a series of events lead to character assassination and segregation of humans based on caste and creed simply classifying into 'them' and 'us'. The cast which has been put forth in this film is limited to the extent of bringing quality experience starring Prithviraj Sukumaran, Roshan Mathew, Mamukkoya, Srindaa, Shine Tom Chacko, and a few more.
The film has been broadly shot in a house located in the remote forested area which talks about Ibrahim his relationship with his grumpy father and an aggressive younger brother who are still struggling with the horrific losses the family had faced a year ago. To support this Muslim family a Hindu neighbor Suma who personally is fond of Ibrahim prepares the day-to-day food and does all the chores within the house to be a part of this family. The story takes a drastic turn when an injured cop named Satyan (Murali Gopy) barges in with a handcuffed Hindu man who is accused of killing a Muslim old man in the name of a communal riot. Let us broaden this narrative, a Muslim family sheltering a prime Hindu suspect for killing their own member from caste makes them question their own ideologies, resentment towards the current society, and self-centered thinking which brings out the real color within themselves. During this whole transition, the movie highlights the entry of an unknown devil-like representation wearing 'Red shoes' who preach to be the prophet's messenger with an alarming personality driven by rage and anger, which takes the whole plot to a thriller action-packed experience.
Let's talk about the main reasons why you should watch this movie, first and foremost the outstanding performance put forth by the actors provides an emotional and visual treat to the audience where cinematographer 'Abinandhan Ramanujam' should be truly praised. The second would be the finest story-telling where if you think about it a single mistake in regards to religion and division of community could create quite a stir in the minds of the audience but irrespective of those issues the writer 'Anish Pallyal' and the editor 'Akhilesh Mohan' made it look way too easy. Finally, the topmost and my favorite is Mamukkoya a well-known veteran actor known for his comic roles from the Malayalam Industry who has also acted in a French movie promising a perfect dialogue delivery with a bunch of stimulating messages which the movie was actually meant to offer.
Overall, the film 'Kuruthi' is something which can question your beliefs, morals, sentiments towards the others and moreover your instincts which somehow is essential for educating the current society that we live in today making it a well-balanced film that everyone should experience.
Do write down in the comments what you think about this movie. Till then peace, love, and prosperity to all.
